Booty & the Kidd

Hip-Hop/Jazz collective, Booty&theKidd, are paving their own path . Since their formation, they have immersed themselves in the deconstruction of traditional hip-hop styles while regenerating its elements back into their own narrative-based aesthetic. Each member’s love of vibration brings the collective together, but its their chemistry and awe-inspiring live performances that brings the city along with them.
Based in Columbus, OH, the collective consists of two lyricists (Booty, TheKidd), a female vocalist (Tina), and a 6-piece jazz ensemble complete with horns, drums, keys and a rhythm section. While their virtuosic tendencies are more than evident, the group’s cohesion is better characterized by each member’s effortlessly cool demeanor. They have made a name for themselves from their live performances and the release of a brief live EP. Their energy is now being poured into crafting their studio sound and making meaningful music. They have been praised by the likes of independent music blogs The Indie Sound and TunedUp, as well as a multitude of prominent local publications such as The Columbus Dispatch and Columbus Underground.
In the ticking time bomb that is the Columbus music scene, Booty&theKidd are one of a few artists primed to burst through and shine some light on an artistically fertile city. With influences ranging from Erykah Badu and Robert Glasper to MF Doom and Madlib, their music exists across many genres and has a little something to offer for every type of music listener.
